Student Dress Code

Gloria Willis Middle School students are not required to wear uniforms.  However, the school does observe a dress code that aligns with the district’s appropriate dress policy.

  • No gloves or hats, bandanas or scarves may be worn in the building.
  • Shorts, skirts and dresses should be of adequate length.  While arms are down, the fingertips should not be touching the skin.  The complete “inseam” of shorts must measure at least twelve inches
  • Ripped jeans must not be ripped above the knee.
  • No midriff or off the shoulder shirts or blouses.
  • No spaghetti straps or low-cut tops that reveal cleavage.
  • No “tube” skirts, dresses or tight knit “spandex” clothing.
  • Outer garments must conceal undergarments:  the act of wearing pants below the waistline or “sagging” is not permitted.
  • Appropriate footwear must be worn.  No flip-flop, slides or house shoes.
  • Images that depict activities that a student cannot do at school are not allowed on any clothing (images related to smoking, drinking, drugs, nudity, violence, public displays of affection, or any pictures or words that may be gang-related)
  • Swear words or objectionable language are not allowed on any clothing, backpacks, coats or scarves.
  • Additional guidelines may be established by the school administration.
